Update to Club Covid Policy

The Board of the North Epping Bowling and Community Club Ltd has determined that, until further notice, it will continue to be a condition of entry into the North Epping Bowling and Community Club premises for any person over 16 years of age (bowling members, social members, guests, visitors, contractors, etc.) to be fully vaccinated, and provide proof of vaccination or a valid exemption certificate.

This decision has been made for the following reasons:

  • Earlier this year, the NSW Government amended the Workers Compensation Act, and section 19B now states that workers with COVID-19 who work in certain types of employment, including clubs, are presumed to have contracted the virus at work or while working. This makes the Club legally liable for the health impacts of COVID-19 on employees.
  • In general, the Club has a duty to ensure the health and safety of staff and patrons under the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (NSW).
  • Official health advice confirms that those who are not fully vaccinated have a higher risk of transmitting the coronavirus to workers and patrons.

Public Health (COVID-19 General) Order 2021 states “…people who remain unvaccinated…. are more likely to be infected, more at risk of severe illness and death resulting from infection with SARS-Cov-2, and more likely to transmit the infection to others, than fully vaccinated people.”

  • Other controls, consistent with NSW health regulations, will continue to be implemented, as outlined in the Club’s COVID-19 Safety Plan.

Given the overwhelming research supporting these findings, precluding patrons who are not fully vaccinated will reduce the likelihood that fully vaccinated staff and patrons will be exposed to the coronavirus, or contract COVID-19.

We fully understand that these continued procedures and restrictions will cause inconvenience, but it is essential that the Club strive to ensure the safety of all staff, members and visitors.

The policy will be reviewed on a monthly basis.

Members’ feedback is welcome.
